Product brief

Interceptor Carrier Board v2.0

A five-drive NAS or a 16-port PoE recorder on one compact board.

Interceptor turns a compute module into a NAS or NVR. Start on a Raspberry Pi CM4 and move to a CM5 on the same board later. Five hot-plug SATA drives, a managed Gigabit switch and standard ATX power make it easy to build into a real appliance.

From $79 US list price. Board only. Compute module sold separately.

Interceptor Carrier Board v2.0 with compute module

Highlights

  • Built for Raspberry Pi CM4; compatible with Raspberry Pi CM5 and Banana Pi CM4
  • 5 SATA III ports with hot-plug and software RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10
  • 4-port Gigabit managed switch
  • Up to 16 PoE+ ports (10/100) with one or two Interceptor PoE Boards

Add a CM5: a quad-core Arm Cortex-A76 processor at 2.4 GHz, up to 16 GB of RAM and, on wireless models, dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 (CM5 sold separately). A CM4 works too.

Add one or two Interceptor PoE Boards for up to 16 PoE+ ports. One 48Vdc Power Converter supplies 240W: 8 ports at 30W or 16 ports at 15W. Cases, power supplies and a Mini-ITX board adapter are in the Exaviz shop.

Coming soon: Exaviz Management, free with Interceptor. Manage PoE ports, port groups and storage from your local network, with no account, no cloud, and no information collected about you or your network.

Good to know

Board only. Compute module sold separately, with a standard 24-pin ATX power supply. USB is USB 2.0, so boot a CM5 from microSD or eMMC (flash an initialized eMMC on a Raspberry Pi IO Board first). Fan headers run at full speed, PoE ports at 10/100 Mbps, and Banana Pi CM4 drives one HDMI output on the Exaviz OS image, which is still available but no longer developed.
